There is a Judgment Against Me. What Do I Do?

You should expect to receive documents from the creditor called post-judgment discovery, and you must answer truthfully and in a timely manner.  Through discovery, creditors try to find out if you have any money or property that can be collected.

To protect your exempt income, send the creditor a signed and notarized letter — also known as an affidavit — swearing that your account only contains exempt funds. Back it up with copies of your account statement.
